A Burgos priest is imprisoned for soliciting sexual photos from minors.

A Burgos priest is imprisoned for soliciting sexual photos from minors.

The Duty Court has remanded a priest from Burgos to pretrial detention for alleged exhibitionism and sexual provocation via social media. The priest allegedly pretended to be a woman to contact minors and ask them for sexually explicit photos.

The Archdiocese of Burgos has ordered the initiation of the preliminary investigation procedure and the adoption of the pertinent canonical measures, among which is the precautionary suspension of the ministry .

Sources from the Archdiocese have indicated that "in light of the judicial ruling and the provisional imprisonment decree for a priest as a result of a police investigation into alleged inappropriate behavior of exhibitionism and sexual provocation through social media, we wish to express our closeness, availability, and support to the victims and their families , deeply regretting any harm that may have been caused."

They also indicated that "the competent authorities have our full cooperation," while encouraging "the priests to ensure that these painful events do not tarnish their fidelity and dedication to the mission entrusted to them." Furthermore, the priest has been provided with the necessary support to address this situation, and they offer comfort to the family.

The investigation apparently began months ago after a complaint from parents who discovered their son had sent sexually explicit photos to a person who identified himself as a woman , from whom he intended to obtain similar photographs in return. Police investigations, following the tracking of the phone, led to the priest who intended to obtain erotic images of minors in this manner.
