The Municipality of Torreón acquires only two homes to continue road construction in Villa Florida.

The Municipality of Torreón confirmed that, for the execution of the second phase of the Villa Florida Highway Passage, only two homes were purchased, ruling out the need for more purchases.
The Director of Municipal Public Works, Juan Adolfo von Bertrab Saracho, explained that the decision to purchase these properties was based on technical criteria, with the goal of ensuring an adequate turning radius on the road. This will allow service trucks, such as garbage and gas, to navigate without complications.
"The mayor was very thoughtful and said, 'Let's buy the last two houses' to ensure any truck could maneuver without difficulty," the official said. With this acquisition, the project will have seven meters of asphalt pavement for parking and four meters of one-way traffic, ensuring residents' mobility without compromising their spaces.
However, he indicated that some sectors have tried to take advantage of the situation to pressure for more purchases, even though technical studies indicate this is not necessary. He mentioned that some community leaders have tried to force the acquisition of more homes, but the project is clear and functional without this need.
The project, which represents an investment of 20 million pesos plus VAT, has been awarded to the company ICOTSA and is in the administrative preparation phase before its official launch. According to the director, work has been done to reach out to residents, holding technical meetings and marking the construction areas on the pavement so residents understand the positive impact of the road.
The purchase of the homes was not part of the Public Works budget, but was managed directly with the Municipal Treasury, following an evaluation and approach with the owners. It made no sense to request the purchase if the owners were not interested. Therefore, the willingness to sell was first verified and the process was then processed.
Von Bertrab Saracho said the project will improve connectivity and road safety in the area, ensuring that residents' mobility will not be affected but rather optimized with new infrastructure.
