Thousands of gamers are calling in sick to work just one day before the Switch 2 launch.

With the imminent release of the Switch 2, thousands of gamers have begun calling in sick from their jobs.

While the reports of illness are not officially related to the launch of Nintendo's new console, several HR departments are beginning to blame the gadget for the sudden absence from work.

Last week everyone was fine, and today it turns out they got sick because of the rains…”, an accountant suspected upon receiving five consecutive sick leave reports from workers under 35 years of age and with Zelda backpacks.

The Switch 2 is coinciding with an acute outbreak of flu and Nintendo-itis

This phenomenon has been replicated in various workplaces across the country, where respiratory illnesses have increased dramatically as June 5th approaches and console pre-orders are being delivered to the economically active population with Wi-Fi at home.

“I feel terrible, boss… I don’t know if I’ll be able to go tomorrow… or the day after… or the rest of the week, ” explained a visibly healthy gamer while waiting in line outside a store dressed as Yoshi.

For their part, IMSS doctors have warned that while "acute Nintendo-itis" is treatable and doesn't pose a serious health risk, it can last at least two weeks or until all of Mario Kart's secret characters are unlocked.

I'm already healed, but I still have a slight cough…”, confessed a young man on a Zoom call while hiding his living room screen, where the sounds of Smash Bros. in tournament mode could be heard.

The bosses have asked the health sector to thoroughly investigate this massive outbreak, although it is not ruled out that the virus could mutate into the dreaded "Chronic Zeldavirus" if the new Tears of the Kingdom 2 is also released in the coming months.
