GTA 6: Analyst predicts price, rules out €100 launch price

It's been over 10 years since Rockstar released GTA V, and yet, the world of Grand Theft Auto continues to sell millions. Now, with GTA 6 just around the corner on May 26th, all eyes are not only on its open world or its return to Vice City… but also on a hot topic on forums and social media: how much will the game cost?
For many, the fear is that the standard edition will cost 90 or 100 euros. But a renowned analyst has another interpretation.
Rhys Elliot, an analyst at Alinea Analytics, stated on Wccftech that Rockstar doesn't need to price GTA 6 at €100 . The reason is simple: its revenue engine is GTA Online, with recurring purchases and microtransactions generating millions in profits each month.
“Limiting the target audience with a high price would reduce the player base, and that would affect the long-term revenue stream,” Elliot explained.
According to him, the most likely price for the standard edition would be $80 (about €75), although Rockstar has not mentioned figures for Europe.
Elliot adds a key factor: the global cost of living crisis. Many players might stick with GTA 5 if GTA 6 launches at a price that's too expensive. In his opinion, this is an unprecedented threat to the franchise , because never before has the transition between installments occurred in such a delicate economic context.
The analyst doesn't rule out Rockstar selling "premium" versions of GTA 6 at higher prices. These editions could include:
- Multi-day early access.
- Virtual currencies for GTA Online.
- Exclusive content and cosmetic items.
An example would be a €100 edition with a Shark Card and one week of early access . This would keep the standard edition affordable, but offer a luxury product for those who want more.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, declined to confirm any figures in his latest statements. He reiterated that his policy is to "offer more value than what is charged" and that the final price will vary depending on the edition.
This leaves the door open to multiple strategies, from a moderate base price to premium packs with extras for GTA Online.
If Rockstar follows Elliot's logic, the price of GTA 6 won't exceed $80 for its basic version. GTA Online will remain the "golden goose" and the key to sustained revenue.
For fans, that means the real question isn't how much the game will cost... but how much they're willing to spend on it.
