Users report a WhatsApp Web outage this Wednesday, August 13: issues with group messaging and status uploads

This Wednesday, August 13, users in Colombia reported outages in the WhatsApp Web service, according to the specialized portal Downdetector. The log shows a sharp increase in incidents starting at 2:00 PM, primarily affecting access to the application, login, and use of the web version.

The instant messaging platform, used to send messages, photos, and other content, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the outage.
The application functionality is reactivated According to Downdetector, reports of problems with WhatsApp began to decrease shortly after the peak recorded at 4:07 a.m. on August 13, 2025.
The app reportedly started working again around 5:00 a.m., when the reporting curve drops significantly toward normal levels.

From the official WhatsApp messaging app page, WhatsApp offers these tips for troubleshooting issues when the app crashes.
Troubleshooting connection issues (WhatsApp Web and Desktop)
On the official WhatsApp help page, WhatsApp provides the following steps if you experience issues such as "Computer Offline" or when sending messages, photos, or audio:
• Make sure your device has a good internet connection. If not, contact your provider.
- Refresh the page.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies (see browser support for instructions).
- Log out of WhatsApp Web and log back in.
- If you're using the desktop app, uninstall and redownload it.
- Restart your device: turn it off, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Try a different Wi-Fi network, for example if you are at work or college.
- Configure your network to allow traffic to “web.whatsapp.com” or “.whatsapp.net” if your network blocks them.

Problems downloading or updating (Android devices)
If you can't install or update WhatsApp from Google Play, consider:
If you get the error “Not enough storage space available”:
- Clear the Google Play Store cache and data from your device's settings.
- Delete apps or files you don't use.
- Consider moving data or apps to an SD card.
- WhatsApp recommends having at least 1 GB of free space.
If your device is not supported or the app is not available in your country:
- You can download WhatsApp outside of Google Play, as an APK file.
- When opening the APK, allow installation from unknown sources (system settings).

To avoid internal storage related failures:
• You can delete media files or chats that you no longer need.
• Also free up storage space on your phone outside of WhatsApp.
