Nearly 10 degrees cooler: the weekend forecast for your home

Nearly 10 degrees cooler: the weekend forecast for your home

This penultimate week of May is characterized by a general cooling in France, with significant thunderstorms, particularly in the south. As indicated by La Chaine Météo , France will find itself in the coming days at a "crossroads of two influences" with the presence of an anticyclone in Northern Europe and multiple depressions near the Mediterranean.

Thursday, May 22: very unstable weather with cool temperatures

Thursday is expected to be generally unstable across much of the southern half of the country. The atmosphere could be unsettled between the Pyrenees, the Alps, and Alsace, where rain will extend throughout much of the day, accompanied by deteriorating conditions at higher altitudes, with snowfall expected above 1,800 meters.

This situation is the result of a meeting between a British disturbance and a cold drop that had been lingering over the south until then. On the Mediterranean side, the Mistral and the Tramontane will return with gusts reaching locally 90 km/h, sweeping the coasts and exposed terrain. Meanwhile, the regions north of the Loire will be able to enjoy a return to relative calm, despite rather overcast skies. The sun will make tentative appearances, without any significant improvement.

According to Météo-France forecasts, Friday, May 23, is expected to be more stable across much of the country. Unstable conditions are expected in the southwest. In the east, the sky could be threatening with a risk of showers. Strong winds, particularly the mistral and the tramontane, will continue to dominate the Mediterranean region . Some morning frosts will be possible in the more central regions of the country. The national temperature indicator is expected to reach 13.6 degrees, 2.5 degrees below seasonal norms.

A weekend that promises to be very unstable

This Saturday, May 24, the weather is expected to deteriorate from the northwest with a disturbance that could be active mainly in Brittany, Normandy, the Pays de la Loire region, and Hauts-de-France. The sky will gradually cloud over in the north. Île-de-France, as well as the Grand-Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and Centre-Val de Loire regions, should remain dry despite overcast skies. In the south, the weather will remain unstable, with sunny spells punctuated by showers, and even a risk of thunderstorms in the Mediterranean. For Sunday, May 28, a disturbance will affect most of France, from New Aquitaine to the Grand Est, including Île-de-France, Centre-Val de Loire, Brittany, Normandy, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Pays de la Loire. Conversely, in the south and south-east, the sky could be milder, with beautiful clear spells expected , particularly for the Mediterranean rim, where clouds could dissipate quickly during the day.
