Algeria plans to build its own large central port, and France could play a role in this.

To accommodate container ships and expand its commercial capacity, Algeria intends to build a large deepwater port in the center of the country. The decade-old project appeared to be at a standstill until the recent announcement of its relocation. France, represented by industrialist Rodolphe Saadé, is now expected to participate.
Algeria plans to build a large deep-water commercial port in the center of the country, according to the Algerian news website Tout sur l'Algérie (TSA ). The media outlet reports, however, that the project, initially planned for El-Hamdania, near Cherchell (100 kilometers west of Algiers) and long stalled, has finally been relocated. Abdelkrim Ghezal, CEO of Serport, the state-owned company that manages the country's ports, indicated that the wilaya of Boumerdès, closer to the capital (less than 50 kilometers east of Algiers), will inherit the project: the port could be built in Dellys or Cap Djinet.
While a recent article in the French newspaper L'Opinion , picked up by Moroccan media, mentioned the abandonment of an agreement between Algeria and China for the construction of this large central port, the Algerian authorities denied the information, at least partially. They thus indicated that if there had indeed been negotiations
