Lyon. Commercial rent control, creation of the Lyon Commerce Office: the City announces its action plan

The results of the Commerce Conference, held last November, were slow to be released. This Wednesday, June 18, the City unveiled its action plan. Not in detail, but in four major measures. Here they are.

Last November, more than 250 Lyon retailers participated in the Commerce Conference, organized by the Green City Council. The idea: to collectively imagine the retail of tomorrow.

Many left with doubts, calling the conference "psychological hugs" and preferring to wait for concrete measures before applauding... Or not.

In mid-May, Progress learned that an action plan had been established, but he remained untraceable.

On June 18, a municipal press release outlined the main thrusts. The city announced that it had worked to implement "a plan structured around four ambitions and 15 objectives broken down into 54 actions to sustainably strengthen local commerce and lay the foundations for a genuine public commerce service."

Coming soon, therefore, is the creation of the Lyon Commerce Office, "a single entry point, online and physical, which will offer a comprehensive support for traders ; the preservation of commercial lines, in order to stem the transformation of the ground floor in certain districts in furnished tourist accommodation ; the launch of a Commerce Biennial dedicated to professionals who will be able to discuss developments in Lyon's commerce.

Finally, as is already the case for rents, the city of Lyon "will advocate for a freeze on the commercial rent index to the State, as well as an experiment in regulating commercial rents, to protect independent traders against land pressure."
