North Korea: Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump's relationship 'not bad,' but denuclearization is unthinkable

US President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un met three times during the Republican's first term in office to try to hammer out a deal for Pyongyang to give up its nuclear weapons. But the two failed to agree on what North Korea would get in return, and their second summit, in Hanoi in 2019, ended in failure, with Pyongyang subsequently accelerating its nuclear program.
Donald Trump, back in the White House since January, has repeatedly boasted of his "very good relationship" with Kim Jong Un, suggesting a possible resumption of talks. "Recently, a White House official said [...] that he (Trump) is still open to dialogue with the leader of the DPRK to achieve complete denuclearization" of the country, Kim Yo Jong added, appearing to refer to comments quoted by the South Korean news agency Yonhap.
