One less deputy until the municipal elections in Cavalaire

Less than thirty minutes flat. With 18 present (and half a dozen proxies), the summer mood was evident at the council meeting on Monday evening. The agenda was as light as summer homework. Only seven items, mainly to address Ghislaine Navarro's resignation from her position as deputy and councilor. It was necessary to wait for the prefecture to validate this departure (letter sent on May 25, acceptance on July 7, and notification to the person concerned five days later).
In the order of the list in the last elections, the 30th person having died, the next person, Pierre Rio, was called upon to numerically replace the resigning person around the table. He was not present, having arranged his vacation abroad before this affair.
This did not, of course, prevent his installation by unanimous vote. But Mayor Philippe Leonelli then indicated that, a few months before the next elections, there was no need to keep eight deputies: their number therefore drops to seven: " The smooth running of municipal services will not be affected by this elimination and by reducing the municipal council to seven deputies ." Without any change in remuneration.
From opposition to majority...This represents an allowance of 55% of the gross terminal index of the civil service for the mayor, 20.99% for the seven deputies and 7.69% for a delegated municipal councilor. Each time, as permitted by law, there is an increase of 25% since the municipality is classified as a "tourist resort" and exceeds the 5,000 population mark.
As a reminder, Ghislaine Navarro was sixth deputy with the following delegated powers: early childhood policy, childhood and educational continuity, family policy and social action aimed at working people (solidarity, intergenerational policy, social assistance, support for parenthood), performance of municipal action.
She also sat as an administrator as an elected member of the board of directors of the communal social action center (CCAS) with Philippe Leonelli (ex-officio president), Bernard Salini, Carole Mortier and Céline Garnier.
The council approved his replacement by Luis Roque, who was on the opposition list in the last elections. Like his colleague Louis Demurger, he has since joined the majority.
The minority is officially represented only by Virginie Lenoir, whose absence the mayor regularly supports at the start of the session...
The same process is taking place for the school fund's board of directors, where this time Céline Garnier is elected. The second deputy is responsible for sports policy, youth policy, and educational continuity (ages 11-25).
Public marketThe last council before the start of the school year (set for September 4 and 30 at 7 p.m. on the first floor of the town hall, open to the public) was also the occasion to validate the call for competition for " meal purchasing services for cold meals and school deliveries, leisure centers and the CCAS ".
Published on April 8th and closed on May 12th, with four bids submitted, one of which was late, two candidates were selected. Garig was ultimately chosen based on price and technical merit. The estimated bill of quantities was set at €511,484.86 excluding tax. The contract expired on August 31st.
