A heavy storm hits Romagna, causing hail and flooding of roads.

A sudden, powerful thunderstorm with strong winds and hail hit the Romagna coast before dawn, starting at 4:30 a.m., first in the Ravenna and Cervia areas and then with particular force in the province of Rimini, causing flooding. Trees fell, and roads in some areas turned into rivers, disrupting traffic. Investigations are underway to determine whether there has been more serious damage.
Beaches and bathing establishments in the Cervia and Milano Marittima area (Ravenna) were severely damaged by the storm with strong winds that hit the Romagna Riviera before dawn. Sunbeds were overturned, and roofs on some structures were blown off or collapsed. In Rimini, the Municipality, with Civil Protection Councilor Yuri Magrini, described a "very severe event" with 74 millimeters of rainfall. Five underpasses were flooded, one with a car trapped inside. Local police are monitoring the still-flooded streets; water is draining normally, partly because the rain has stopped. Basements are flooded and trees have fallen; the provincial coordination unit has activated support teams for the fire department.
