Another Italian dies in Ukraine: Luca Cecca volunteered for Kiev in the war against Russia.

At the front
If the Farnesina confirms the death, the 34-year-old Roman will be the eighth Italian to die at the front. There are reportedly around twenty who left. The news from Memorial

Another Italian fighter against Russia has died in Ukraine . His name was Luca Cecca , he was 34 years old and originally from Rome. The news was released by Memorial – International Volunteers for Ukraine, an association of foreign fighters who joined the Ukrainian army. It has not yet been confirmed by the Italian Foreign Ministry. No information on the cause or circumstances of his death has been released.
There had been no news of Cecca since last December. "Our beloved Italian brother, Luca Cecca, who served in Ukraine as a volunteer , fell on the battlefield. Honor, glory, and gratitude to our brother," reads a post on Memorial's Facebook page, alongside a photograph of Luca Cecca. It is currently unclear where he died. ANSA reports rumors from several sources that he died in Donetsk, which Russia had long annexed. Under Ukrainian law, a death is officially announced only after the body has been recovered and identified: a rather complex operation, especially in areas occupied by the Russian army, such as the one where Cecca reportedly disappeared.
If confirmed, he would be the eighth Italian to die in the war in Ukraine since Moscow's invasion in February 2022. The others were Thomas D'Alba, Antonio Omar Dridi, Manuel Mameli, Massimiliano Galletti, Elia Putzolu (who sided with the pro-Russian side), Benjamin Giorgio Galli, and Edy Ongaro. Angelo Costanza, however, has been missing since 2024, but Italy has not confirmed his death. Around twenty Italians are believed to have left for the front in Ukraine, an illegal move.
