Colbert and the crisis of American television
Federico Rampini / CorriereTv
In the new episode of the video series " Oriente Occidente ," Federico Rampini comments on the closure of Stephen Colbert 's television program on the US network CBS . Many— Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren among the first—have cried censorship: "And yet," Rampini explains, "in the last financial year, the program recorded a deficit of approximately $40 million , despite, among other things, a 1% ratings ." The Democratic alarm, however, is linked to another circumstance: " There is no longer a widespread space for discussion ," he concludes, "everything is balkanized and fragmented like on YouTube, where each user pursues their own niche."
