Has NVIDIA stopped production of H20 GPUs?

NVIDIA can once again sell H20 GPUs in China, thanks to a license granted by the U.S. Department of Commerce and a percentage of revenue paid to the government. According to sources at The Information , the California-based company has halted production of the AI chips.
Are Chinese companies no longer buying GPUs?H20s are primarily used for AI model inference, as training requires more powerful GPUs. The Trump administration had blocked exports to China, but about three months later reauthorized sales. However, Chinese authorities have urged local companies not to purchase the GPUs for security reasons. They suspect the GPUs contain a remote tracking and deactivation system, but NVIDIA has denied this (according to Reuters, tracking is performed via GPS).
The Information's sources say that NVIDIA has asked some suppliers, including Samsung and Amkor Technology , to suspend component production. Samsung makes the memory, while Amkor produces the chip packaging. Reuters reported that a similar request has been sent to Foxconn . The GPU is produced by TSMC.
An NVIDIA spokesperson said:
We constantly manage our supply chain to respond to market conditions.
GPU production for China has likely been reduced due to declining demand, but there is no official confirmation.
CEO Jensen Huang said he would provide full clarification to the Chinese government, reiterating that there are no backdoors in the H20 GPUs. NVIDIA has reportedly already begun development of a GPU (codenamed B30A ) based on the Blackwell architecture that could be exported to China if licensed.
