Italians use AI, but they don't trust it much.

According to the results of the Trend Radar 2025 research, carried out by Samsung in collaboration with the research company Toluna, approximately 40% of Italians use artificial intelligence for some activities, but they do not trust it very much, especially when it comes to the use of personal data .

Italians would like to delegate various tasks to AI

The research findings show that Italians would like to use artificial intelligence for the most boring tasks (76%), save time and energy (75%), and avoid stressful situations (74%). Specifically, 37% would delegate complaints, reminders, or other administrative tasks, 36% would delegate tasks that generate anxiety and stress, and 28% would delegate tasks that cause embarrassment and discomfort.

27% of Italians would like to eliminate daily time-wasters , such as bills, queues, or deliveries. 30% would like to use AI for service calls, such as calling the hairdresser for an appointment, ordering a pizza, or canceling an appointment.

Thirty-nine percent of Italians have already used AI for some tasks with satisfactory results. However, almost half (49%) prefer to handle tasks themselves to feel more secure. This mistrust is due to three main characteristics that AI should possess: ease of use, protection of personal data, and the ability to understand needs.

The smartphone is considered the most useful device for accessing AI by 76% of Italians. In short, Italians are willing to delegate to AI the tasks that generate anxiety, embarrassment, or daily boredom, but they demand simplicity, precision, and respect for privacy .

Emanuele De Longhi , Head of Corporate Marketing at Samsung Electronics Italy, said:

Our research highlights an interesting reality: Italians seek not only efficiency from AI, but also emotional relief. This makes trust crucial: technology must be intuitive, respectful, and transparent. The smartphone, already a reference point for three out of four Italians, becomes the key to making AI accessible and useful to everyone, serving as a true daily companion.
