Filippo Manni, the 21-year-old from Racale who confessed to the murder of his mother, Teresa Sommario, remains hospitalized in the infirmary of the Lecce prison of Borgo San Nicola, under psychiatric therapy. Since his arrest, the young man has been in the health wing of the penitentiary, reserved for inmates in need of medical care.
Defense attorney Francesco Fasano visited him again on Saturday, and at the end of the meeting he expressed concern about his health. "Filippo is very confused," he said, "he doesn't even seem interested in the next legal steps. He's started a therapy based on psychotropic drugs." During the interview, the boy asked about his father Daniele and his two twin brothers, but he didn't express any intention of writing to them. He asked his lawyer to say hello to them.
The defense, as previously announced, will appoint a psychologist and a forensic psychiatrist to ascertain the psychophysical conditions of the student and subsequently evaluate the hypothesis of a request for a psychiatric assessment by the Prosecutor's Office. An assessment that could represent an important step in the investigation into the murder coordinated by the prosecutor Simona Rizzo in the event that even partial mental illness were to emerge.
