Meta Connect 2025: launch of smart glasses with display

The Meta Connect 2025 conference is scheduled for September 17-18. The event page clearly references the metaverse, artificial intelligence, and AI glasses. According to CNBC sources, the Menlo Park company will demonstrate the first smart glasses with displays (codenamed Hypernova), which have long been rumored .

Glasses with screen, AI and bracelet

Meta is currently selling Ray-Ban -branded smart glasses. The first version of the Oakley-branded glasses has been available since mid-July (the other six combinations will be on sale starting August 26). Both are made in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica .

Meta will extend its partnership with the Italian-French company to bring Hypernova smart glasses to market. They will have a small color screen at the bottom of the right lens. However, the viewing angle is very limited (about 20 degrees). The user will see a screen with icons for various apps in front of their eyes. They will obviously offer the same features as Ray-Ban, including voice commands and Meta AI. Interaction can also occur via gestures by tapping the sides of the glasses.

It's not known which brand will be used. CNBC reports it could be Prada . The smartglasses could be paired with a bracelet that will allow users to perform actions through hand movements. It uses sEMG (surface electromyography) technology to translate electrical muscle signals into digital signals. The bracelet will also be used for future AR glasses .

According to Mark Gurman (Blommberg), smart glasses with displays will cost around $800 . The third-generation Ray-Ban glasses are also expected to be announced at the Connect 2025 conference.

Mark Zuckerberg will also unveil the latest developments in artificial intelligence. Meta AI will obviously be the focus. Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang , who announced a partnership with Midjourney last night, is also expected to be present. He will likely provide details on the collaboration.
