Opel unveils the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo: 800 hp and extreme design

After a teaser that piqued the curiosity of enthusiasts, Opel has finally unveiled the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, a concept car that will make its official debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich from September 8 to 14.
A model that is not just a stylistic exercise, but a manifesto of the German brand's future direction: electric, sporty, connected, and deeply rooted in popular culture thanks to its appearance in the video game Gran Turismo 7. The choice of name is no coincidence. On one hand, the Corsa, a symbol of accessibility and millions of European drivers; on the other, the GSE badge, an acronym that Opel has revitalized, transforming it into a synonym for extreme electric performance. This fusion takes the small car from Rüsselsheim to an unprecedented level, with 800 hp, 800 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 320 km/h. These numbers leave no room for interpretation: the Vision Gran Turismo is the pinnacle of the brand's new generation of sports cars.
Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel, emphasized the ambition behind this project: “The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo elevates our high-performance brand to a new level. It's not just a car to be admired, but to be experienced. And thanks to Gran Turismo 7, everyone will be able to experience it firsthand this fall.” This strategic choice connects Opel not only with car drivers but also with the vast, global gaming community. From a technical standpoint, the concept car boasts an impressive arsenal. Two 350 kW electric motors, one per axle, ensure permanent all-wheel drive and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds. The 82 kWh battery, integrated into a body that weighs just 1,170 kg, enables supercar performance while remaining true to the philosophy of efficiency. There's also a boost function capable of adding 80 hp for a few seconds, a detail that will make real or virtual overtaking even more spectacular.
The design follows Opel's "Bold and Pure" philosophy, but reinterprets it in an extreme way. Sharp lines, lower and wider proportions compared to a production Corsa, and a front dominated by the new illuminated Vizor, with the Blitz becoming the luminous heart of the so-called "Opel Compass." At the rear, the light signature follows the same pattern, creating a stylistic continuity that combines aesthetics and technology. The deliberately contrasting colors of pearl white, fluorescent yellow, and gloss black create an immediate visual impact, emphasized by asymmetrical 21- and 22-inch wheels.
The interior is equally refined, where Opel introduces the concept of a "detox experience." No bulky displays, but a head-up display that concentrates all driving information, leaving the driver's eye on only the essentials. The compact steering wheel provides an unobstructed view, while the lightweight, enveloping suspended seat integrates the driver into the structure of the car. Ambient lighting also serves as a safety feature, alerting the driver to the presence of other vehicles or risks directly through the luminous fabrics of the dashboard.
Attention to aerodynamics is another strong point. Active solutions such as spoilers and adjustable diffusers optimize downforce, while fenders and wheels designed to reduce turbulence enhance stability. This balance between aesthetics and function speaks to the design maturity of the Opel team. This isn't the first time the Blitz brand has experimented in this field. Sixty years ago, with the Opel Experimental GT, it was the first European manufacturer to present a concept car, revolutionizing the concept of a show prototype. Today, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo builds on that legacy and brings it into the present, bridging the real and virtual worlds. After its premiere in Munich, the car will also be featured at the Gran Turismo World Series in Berlin, marking the beginning of a new era in which the barriers between road and simulation are increasingly blurred.
The message is clear: the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo is not just a digital dream or a showpiece, but the symbol of a future in which Opel intends to be a protagonist. And while millions of gamers will be able to get behind the wheel of GT7's virtual circuits, the curiosity remains to see how much of this extraordinary stylistic and technical feat will be reflected in the production models.
