Quota 103 needs to be revised. Claudio Durigon says so, highlighting the need to introduce more effective exit flexibility into the Italian pension system, but with a retirement age of 64 (with 25 years of contributions) in any case.

The Government will study a concrete solution to this end, starting with the possibility of extending the early retirement age to 64, available to those in the full contributory system, to those in the mixed system as well.

The Undersecretary of Labor, interviewed by Repubblica, also explains that no decision has been made regarding the Women's Option , which will in any case have to be reviewed since it has suffered a sharp drop in enrollment.

Durigon also spoke about freezing pension eligibility requirements to avoid the three-month increase expected from 2027, noting that the political will to do so remains, although it is not yet clear how much funding this will require. There is also the idea of subsequently reviewing the mechanism for adjusting eligibility requirements to life expectancy to prevent Italy's retirement age, already high compared to the European average, from further increasing. Commenting on the Undersecretary of Labor's remarks, Avs MP Franco Mari emphasized the need for the government to address the dual problem of Italian pensions: their relatively low amount and the fact that they are paid late.
