Despite the summer, work is in full swing in the Municipality of Vigodarzere: several public works projects are underway, making the area safer and more livable.
The municipal administration met with the principal of the comprehensive school, Maria Laura Angelini, and her staff, who explained the ongoing work. Taking advantage of the summer holidays, work was done on the roofs of three school buildings: the "Il Piccolo Principe" nursery school, the middle school gym, and the gym and adjacent cafeteria at the Don Bosco elementary school. The work will be completed in time for September, when the bell will ring to announce the start of the new school year. The work focuses primarily on addressing structural issues that have emerged, including as a result of exceptional weather events. Specifically, work is underway to renovate the gym roofs of the Don Bosco elementary school and the Moroni middle school, which were experiencing water infiltration. Furthermore, the roof of the municipal nursery school, damaged by the hailstorm that struck the area in the summer of 2023, is nearing completion. "It was essential to act during the summer to resolve the infiltration problems and the damage caused by the hailstorm," Mayor Adolfo Zordan stated, speaking with the public works councilors who oversaw the projects and construction sites, "which could have compromised the usability of the school facilities. Our priority is to provide students and staff with spaces that are not only renovated, but above all safe and ready to welcome students back in September with peace of mind."
The nursery school's roof has been redone with a double membrane, including one for hail protection. Installation of false ceilings in each room, consisting of sound-absorbing, non-collapsing panels, is currently being completed. The interior walls have been repainted, and a thorough cleaning will be completed by the end of August to ensure the nursery school is renovated and safe, in time for the start of the new school year. Meanwhile, work on the new nursery school is proceeding according to schedule, with the attics now complete.
At Moroni Secondary School, work is underway to renovate the gymnasium roof, installing a new membrane and galvanized steel panels. The downspouts have also been redone to drain rainwater. Inside, suspended ceilings are being installed, and work will continue on renovating the bathrooms, including a dedicated bathroom for people with disabilities. The changing rooms will also be renovated, and both internal and external doors will be replaced. Finally, at Don Bosco Primary School, work is beginning on the gymnasium and cafeteria roofs to address frequent leaks.
