The counter-exodus begins: red warnings on roads and highways

First people returning from vacation: days of counter-exodus for some Italians as they prepare to return to the city. Roads and highways will be red-flagged for Sunday, with heavy traffic expected for the return journey, also scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, August 18th.

The following two weekends—Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th, and Saturday, August 30th and Sunday, August 31st—will again be under red alert, Anas and Autostrade warn, due to the full exodus of tourists, with most of the holidaymakers returning to the big cities.
