The institute that revolutionized Rehabilitation Medicine

The institute that revolutionized Rehabilitation Medicine

Rehabilitation medicine is one of the medical branches that has seen the greatest development in recent decades. Today, it encompasses the broadest spectrum of care aimed at the patient's complete psychophysical recovery, encouraging them to return to their daily activities independently.

An evolution that has marked the advent of increasingly advanced techniques and machinery that use the latest technologies in science and robotics.

The "Tour celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Salvatore Maugeri Foundation" stops in Campania.

The IRCCS Maugeri Telese Terme represents excellence in this regard. On October 30th, the Institute, together with the ICS Hermitage Maugeri Naples , hosted the Campania stage of the Tour celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Salvatore Maugeri Foundation . The Salvatore Maugeri Foundation was founded in Pavia in 1965 by Prof. Salvatore Maugeri, a pioneer of modern Rehabilitation Medicine. A 60-year history of research, care, and innovation, celebrated with a tour of the Institutes bearing the Founder's name. "We want the 60th anniversary celebration to be a moment in which, by looking back with pride, we draw determination, inspiration, and commitment for the future," said Chiara Maugeri, Vice President of the Salvatore Maugeri Foundation and ICS Maugeri Spa SB . "In Telese Terme, as in many other communities, we have been and are instruments of care and growth. Today, the IRCCS of Telese Terme hosts three laboratories of excellence, where Campanian professionals have found the space, trust, and resources to express their talent. Knowledge, experience, and passion that we have also made available to ICS Hermitage Maugeri Naples." The event was attended by local authorities and representatives of the Foundation, including President Luca Damiani , also Executive Chairman of ICS Maugeri Spa SB , who in his speech emphasized the importance of continuing to invest even in areas far from major metropolitan areas, to ensure quality healthcare for those who live in these places, without forcing them to move to other, better-served regions. The IRCCS Maugeri Telese Terme certainly represents a virtuous example of this commitment.

“Today I express my emotion and pride at having shared over 40 years of Maugeri's 60-year history,” said Michele Rossi , Director of the IRCCS Maugeri Telese Terme . “I was fortunate to meet Prof. Salvatore Maugeri, who listened to our concerns, and the first feeling I felt was a sense of belonging to a history, a group, an ideal, and a project that we have succeeded in realizing over the years. Maugeri structured rehabilitation in Italy and Campania with rules and regulations. It is no coincidence that the Ministry of Health also refers to the Maugeri system as a model to inspire us. Today we have the responsibility to maintain and improve this project. We are succeeding thanks to the value and expertise of our professionals, who enable us to provide increasingly effective, modern, and technologically advanced rehabilitation treatments.”

60 hours of free consultations

The event retraced the milestones of the Salvatore Maugeri Foundation —which is now represented by 25 institutions in seven Italian regions—and the history of the Telese Terme and Naples-Capodimonte Institutes, discussing the clinical and scientific evolution that has taken place over the years and presenting the most recent lines of research. His Eminence Cardinal Domenico Battaglia gave a heartfelt and moving speech, thanking Maugeri and its employees for the journey they have traveled over these 60 years and for the path that Maugeri continues to pave every day, with dedication and silence, in the world of research and treatment. Patients and caregivers also shared their firsthand experiences, sharing their own testimonies of care and rehabilitation: authentic voices that recount the various facets of the disease and the value of rehabilitation in maintaining autonomy, confidence, and, above all, quality of life.
