The Province of Padua presents the new urban plan for the next 25 years

A meeting with representatives of Municipalities, economic categories and professional orders, in which the conclusion of the first phase regarding the territorial analysis and the start of the planning of the general variant of the Ptcp - Provincial Coordination Territorial Plan, by the Territorial Planning - Urban Planning Office of the Province of Padua, was presented.
During the meeting, promoted by the Province of Padua with representatives of the Municipalities, economic categories and professional Orders, the conclusion of the first phase of the territorial analysis was presented and the official start of the planning of the General Variant of the Provincial Coordination Territorial Plan was announced. The work, supervised by the Territorial Planning - Urban Planning Office, marks the beginning of a new strategic vision for the development of the provincial territory over the next 25 years. The Ptcp is the planning tool that defines the guidelines and objectives for the provincial territory, taking into account its geological, environmental, landscape and socio-economic characteristics. The current plan dates back to the early 2000s (it was adopted in 2004 and approved in 2006, but the process had begun in 2001). "We started a year and a half ago - said Daniele Canella, deputy vice president of the Province of Padua - with the awareness that it was necessary to profoundly review the Plan. The world has changed radically in the last twenty years and the planning system of the 2000s is no longer able to respond to current needs. The new challenges require a complete review, coordinated with the territory and farsighted».
The new Ptcp will consider the production system and the road system in light of issues such as climate change, energy and environmental sustainability, the protection and enhancement of the landscape and slow tourism, with particular attention to soft mobility and cycling. "Today - adds Canella - is "day zero" for us, a symbolic but concrete moment. It's like taking a clear photograph of our territory after 25 years: knowing what we have become from 2000 to today is essential to plan how we want to become in the next 25 years. We start from a base that takes into account the tools created in the past: Pat, Pati, new regulations and new tools allow us to build a current and realistic plan. We will therefore redesign the Plan starting from the production system and the road system that are the "heart" of the Province's skills, inserting those strategic elements that 25 years ago had a different weight than they do today. The focus will therefore be on: climate change, energy, energy self-supply, enhancement of the territory and sustainable tourism which opens the topic of cycling. Today we are opening a phase of discussion with the territories: from September thematic tables will open with mayors, administrators and stakeholders, to plan together the province of the future. It is a courageous challenge, but also a great opportunity".
