World Swimming Championships live: Pilato, Bottazzo, and the men's 4x100 medley finals today.

The final day of the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore marks the end of Italy 's medal hopes. Today, Anita Bottazzo and Benedetta Pilato will compete in the 50m breaststroke and the men's 4x100m medley finals. Thomas Ceccon and Nicolò Martinenghi will also compete in the relay. The 2025 World Championships have brought our team to a record 25 finals.

Italy's performance at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore

As we await the final day of competition, Italy's provisional tally in the pool is one gold, four silvers, and one bronze ( see medal table here ). Twenty-five finals reached, two European records set, ten Italian overall records and three junior records, three Italian cadet records, and eighteen personal bests.

Italy: A bitter night for the women's 4x100 medley.

During the night, the women's 4x100 medley , Sara Franceschi in the 400 medley and Alberto Razzetti in the same specialty failed to secure a place in the final.

Pilato and Bottazzo reach the finals of the 50m breaststroke

At 1:10 PM, Italy will have one of its last chances at a medal in the women's 50m breaststroke with Benedetta Pilato (who won her semifinal yesterday) and Anita Bottazzo . Reaching the podium won't be easy, however, because in the pool will be Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte , the record holder in the event, the reigning world champion, China's Tang Qianting , and American Lilly King , 28, with three Olympic and 11 world titles, who will be competing in her last race before retiring.

The men's 4x100 medley relay reaches the final

With their third-place finish, the men's 4x100 medley relay team has advanced to the final. Bacico, Viberti, Burdisso , and Frigo are the stars. In the final, scheduled for 2:33 p.m. , Italy will field ace athletes Thomas Ceccon and Nicolò Martinenghi . China and Australia , Olympic gold medalists in Paris, will not be competing.
