Stellantis, voluntary exits for 610 Mirafiori workers

Stellantis has announced the voluntary exit with an exodus incentive of 610 workers in Turin: 250 from the body shops, 19 from the Presses, 31 from the Mold Construction, 53 from the Pcma of San Benigno, 9 from the former Tea of Grugliasco, 212 from the Central Agencies, 20 from the Services, 16 from the Fiat Research Center.
"The CEOs change, but the trend of emptying Mirafiori and the impoverishment of Turin does not change. This is why we did not sign the agreement in which nothing is planned for the future. Instead of relaunching production, of having a comprehensive plan for the historic Turin plant, the new CEO continues to follow the wrong path of his predecessor. After having toured Mirafiori, it would be useful for him to meet with the workers' representatives to discuss and find the right solutions to avoid completely losing a collective heritage made up of know-how, knowledge and ability in building cars", comments Edi Lazzi, general secretary of the Fiom Cgil of Turin.
"While the company sends out reassuring messages with words that it then promptly betrays with facts, another 610 workers are leaving. In addition to the mockery of celebrating the patron saint of Turin in a few days with a lavish presentation of a car that will not be produced in Mirafiori, an even more worrying fact emerges: Stellantis spends more money to send away its employees, than it makes available for those who remain. Even the increase in their paychecks just agreed upon, will be received by the lucky few who work, while the laid-off workers who will continue to receive the amount paid by INPS will have nothing", observes Gianni Mannori, head of Fiom Cgil in Mirafiori.
