Milan, September 21, 2025 - Antonio Del Pennino, a historic Milanese member of the PRI party and parliamentarian, has passed away at the age of 86, which he celebrated on September 12. He was born in the Lombardy capital in 1939. Del Pennino served as both a member of parliament and a senator for several terms, and also served as deputy mayor in the government led by the socialist Carlo Tognoli. He had a law degree.
Del Pennino was the city secretary of the Italian Republican Party (PRI) in Milan from 1965 to 1970. Elected City Councilor of Milan on June 7, 1970, he was briefly appointed councilor for municipal companies and municipal holdings in the Milan city council led by the socialist Aldo Aniasi until February 9, 1971; subsequently, he served as group leader of the PRI in the City Council until June 15, 1975. Re-elected City Councilor of Milan, from August 10, 1982 to December 12, 1985, he was deputy mayor of Milan and again councilor for municipal companies and municipal holdings in the government of the socialist mayor Carlo Tognoli.
Member of the Chamber of Deputies in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th legislatures (from 1972 to 1994). President of the Republican Parliamentary Group from 1987 to 1992, he was also national deputy secretary of the Italian Republican Party from 1983. He was also head of the PRI's Office for Regions and Local Authorities and was one of the three members of the governing committee of the Republican Party Secretariat during Giovanni Spadolini's term as Prime Minister.
