Five Star Movement (M5S): Conte remains the only candidate for president.

In the end, only one remained: Giuseppe Conte . Of the 77 candidates, which later became 21, only the outgoing president of the Five Star Movement managed to pass the selection process for the leadership of the (non)party. "At 4:00 PM today, September 22," reads the statement on the Five Star Movement website, "the signature collection phase for aspiring candidates for the role of president of the Five Star Movement closed. The following candidates have reached the 500 signatures needed to advance to the final voting phase, as required by the rules for the election of the president of the Five Star Movement: Giuseppe Conte."
Of the twenty who had signed up, almost no one had ever heard of them. For example, Maria Montisci , 63, says she approached the Five Star Movement two years ago: "I decided to make a huge effort and be a more present and significant part of the Movement."
Among the most vocal was Valerio Celiberto, "an activist in Bologna since its founding." Therefore, he writes, "I completely disagree with the current M5S strategic line, which, distancing itself from the virtual one-man-one-man system, has relied on the baronial territorial system."
The list of twenty included a bit of everything: teachers, training experts, health workers, a chemist and a "son of Europe", like Jean François Camille Boudard : "A convinced federalist, I have always had a constant interest in the construction of a habitable, adequate, up-to-date, anti-globalist, altruistic Europe" and then an infinite number of other adjectives and nouns.
