Arezzo, July 29, 2025 – The Democratic Party calls for clarity on waste management in Sansepolcro.

The PD-InComune council group has submitted a question to the City Council to shed light on the waste collection service reorganization project, an issue that has been generating discontent and inconvenience among residents and local businesses in recent weeks.

With this initiative, the Democratic Party intends to bring to the Administration's attention the critical issues that have emerged with the introduction of new street bins and the expansion of door-to-door collection, especially in peripheral and hilly areas. In many areas, the new system has increased the distances people have to travel to dispose of waste and has contributed to incidents of bag abandonment, with obvious repercussions on urban decorum.

❗To make matters worse, we're reporting a malfunctioning pedal-operated opening mechanism on the unsorted waste bins, which frequently jams. This real inconvenience is driving many residents to leave their bags on the ground, fueling a problem that should be prevented, not encouraged.

Furthermore, the so-called "smart bins," designed for card-based waste collection, are currently inactive and do not allow for pay-as-you-throw rates. All this while service costs have increased, impacting families and businesses directly, without any tangible benefits being perceived.

The PD group's question asks:

• When the promised technologies for waste disposal and the pay-as-you-throw tariff will be activated;

• An evaluation of the effectiveness of the new door-to-door collection in the historic centre;

• Clarifications regarding delays in extending separate waste collection to the S. Cuore area.

As a responsible political force attentive to the needs of citizens, we believe it is essential for the municipal administration to provide transparent and concrete responses to restore trust and ensure an efficient, fair, and sustainable waste collection system for all.
