Seahawks struggle, but edge Texans with defensive shutdown at Lumen Field

The Seattle Seahawks managed to pull off a victory in a game that at times seemed to be more complicated than necessary. With a final score of 27-19 over the Houston Texans , Mike McDonald 's team relied on a solid defensive performance to secure their fifth win of the season and remain in the fight for the top spot in the NFC West.
The start was promising for Seattle, which took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. However, an attempted trick play changed the course momentarily. Cooper Kupp , lined up at quarterback, threw a weak pass that was intercepted by the Texas defense. The opportunity was taken advantage of by Ka'imi Fairbairn , who connected on a field goal to open the scoring for Houston.

The mistakes continued on the next drive, when Jason Myers ' 53-yard field goal attempt was blocked after a lapse in protection by center Chris Stoll . Still, the Texans were only able to add three more points on another Fairbairn kick as CJ Stroud 's offense struggled again under pressure.
Stroud spent much of the game under siege. The offensive line gave him no time or space, and the quarterback barely missed two safeties by inches. Still, Houston's defense kept the team alive after a Sam Darnold turnover led to a defensive touchdown by Will Anderson Jr.
Darnold alternated between hits and misses. He connected on a touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba , but also threw an interception and fumbled on another play that revived the Texans.
The turning point came when Seattle's defense stopped Houston three times within a yard of their first down. That momentum translated into Zach Charbonnet 's second touchdown, which extended the lead.
In the fourth quarter, Stroud threw his first touchdown, but Seattle ran out the clock with its ground attack to seal the win. The defense, once again, was the key to the Seahawks surviving their own mistakes and consolidating their position in the NFC.
