A blow to the wallet: inflation in Buenos Aires City was 2.1% in June.

Inflation in the City of Buenos Aires was 2.1% in June , the Buenos Aires Statistics and Census Directorate reported Tuesday. Thus, prices accelerated by 15.3% in the first half of 2025, while year-on-year, the CPI in Buenos Aires City accumulated a 44.5 % increase.

Throughout the month, some services and products increased above inflation, which led to this unexpected surge by the government. The main increases were in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, transportation, healthcare, and food and beverages.

Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels averaged a 3.1% increase, primarily due to increases in rent and common housing expenses. Transportation recorded increases of 3.1% due to rising bus fares and the gasoline price hike. Meanwhile, health care increased by 2.6% due to increases in private medical insurance premiums.

Restaurants and hotels saw a 1.5% increase, mostly affected by the rise in food and beverages, which registered a 1.6% increase. driven by strong increases in bread and cereals (2.4%), followed by meat and meat products (1.8%), along with dairy products and eggs (1.1%).

This Monday, July 14, INDEC will release the national CPI for the sixth month of 2025. While private consulting firms estimate inflation will be close to 2%, the exact figure has not yet been released, although price movements in the City of Buenos Aires are an indicator that puts the national government on alert in its economic plan.

It's worth remembering that in May, prices rose 1.5% , a cumulative increase of 43.5% over the past 12 months. While this reflects a decline in price increases, it is still higher than the estimates of President Javier Milei and his Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, who estimated that by this point in the year it would be 1% or even lower.

?? INFLATION CABA – JUNE 2025? Monthly inflation in June was +2.1% in CABA. The year-over-year rate was +44.5%.? The average exchange rate in June rose +2.95%. Therefore, we have another month where inflation is lower than the exchange rate variation.
