Mazón accompanied the journalist to the parking lot when she finished eating at El Ventorro.
Almost a year later, and very slowly, small details are emerging about what the president of the Valencian Government, Carlos Mazón, did after his meal at El Ventorro. Sources close to Maribel Vilaplana, the journalist who dined with him, confirm to La Vanguardia that the PP leader accompanied her, after the meal at this restaurant in the center of Valencia, to the parking lot where she had parked her car. A parking lot located halfway between the place where they both spent nearly four hours and the Palau de la Generalitat.
A news story released this Sunday by the Levante-EMV newspaper provides a new version of the events that occurred between the end of lunch and Mazón's arrival at the Cecopi command center at 8:28 p.m., when the alarm had already sounded and, according to the Catarroja judge investigating the case, dozens had already died due to the flood.

The Presidency has never provided details on this matter and has always maintained that, after lunch at El Ventorro, the president went to the Palau, where he worked until he got in his car to go to the Cecopi (Cecopi). In fact, they even placed Mazón's arrival at his office at 6:00 p.m.
According to the letter published by journalist Maribel Vilaplana, the meeting between the two at El Ventorro ended at 6:30 or 6:45 p.m., meaning the journey to the parking lot would have taken a few minutes.
The departure from El Ventorro was between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. and between 6:57 and 7:34 p.m., Mazón did not speak to anyone on the phone. An authoritative source for the journalist told Efe that she omitted this detail from the letter, considering it "inconsequential," since the parking lot is next to the restaurant. The same source says that "normally" they would go out together and she would accompany him to the parking lot "which is about 200 meters away," adding that it was not included in the letter because it was not considered relevant.
According to the call log provided by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana to the Corts Valencianes commission of inquiry, Mazón did not make any calls between 6:57 p.m. and 7:34 p.m., during the most critical moments of the flood. At that time, and according to the telephone records that former minister Salomé Pradas handed over to the judge, a canceled call occurred between the accused leader and the president at 7:10 p.m.
