Goodbye Netflix, hello Tubi: this is the largest library of free content in the entire streaming universe and how to watch it in Spain

In the quest to become the king of streaming platforms, Tubi has made a momentous turn. Once seen as an “underdog” in the platform competition, the free, ad-supported content service now boasts the largest content library of any giant like Netflix , according to a recent Wired report. With over 275,000 titles spanning all eras and genres, Tubi is redefining what it means to have a diverse streaming offering.
Tubi's vast library ranges from cult classics like Cooley High to '90s heist thrillers like The Thomas Crown Affair, the outlet notes. The platform spans an impressive spectrum of content, from anime to westerns to reality shows to low-budget horror films. The company has even released offbeat titles like Leprechaun 4: Lost in Space, underscoring its commitment to variety that few can match.
According to Wired, in the past 12 months, Tubi has captured the public’s attention by broadcasting major events such as the Super Bowl , in collaboration with Fox Sports. In addition, it has signed agreements with WWE and has begun to offer innovative programs such as Evolve, focused on emerging wrestlers. In markets such as Mexico, Tubi has gained popularity by becoming the exclusive provider of the Concacaf Champions Cup, which reinforces its international presence.
However, despite its growing audience of 97 million monthly active users, Tubi still faces the stigma of being a "social punching bag," where much of its content, deemed low-quality, has been the subject of ridicule.
The other way to see a mockeryIn this regard, Nicole Parlapiano, Tubi's marketing director, acknowledged to Wired that the nature of its library has led to criticism that, while sometimes disparaging, also reflects a certain "appreciation."
Tubi's approach of offering a wide range of films, including many low-budget ones, has been "intentional." Parlapiano claims they're not there to dictate what's "good" in terms of awards and prestige. "We have independent films that are cheesy and have bad stunts. We don't take ourselves too seriously," he tells the outlet, making it clear that authenticity is part of their appeal.
Since its founding in 2014 by Farhad Massoudi, Tubi has evolved from an ad-tech platform to a major player in streaming. Despite initial struggles, Massoudi acknowledged that low-cost content could be the key to maintaining a sustainable value proposition.
As the streaming ecosystem has become saturated, Tubi is finding its own unique path, focusing its offering on niches and voice diversity.
Tubi is currently available in: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America (Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama), Australia and earlier this month it also arrived in the United Kingdom. In the case of Spain, the only way to watch it is through a VPN.
