The 3 changes in Android 16 that affect how you call your contacts

Android , the mobile operating system developed by Google, offers a wealth of features that make users' lives easier and has been released in several versions over the years. The latest version is 16.
Recently launched, it brings new features aimed at improving security, performance, compatibility, and other aspects. However, there are some notable changes that could affect the way you call your contacts.
Android 16 was initially released for Google Pixel devices and is rolling out the update gradually, by region and based on device compatibility. Therefore, these changes to how you call contacts will gradually roll out to all devices.
Android 16 brings changes that will first be reflected on Google Pixel devices.
- Google has three main tabs in the phone app: Favorites, Contacts, and Recents. However, with Android 16 , three new ones are added: Home, Dialer, and Voicemail. This means that the filter for missed calls or calls marked as spam will be moved to the top, leaving the bottom area clearer.
- In the Home section, you'll see your favorite contacts and call history. Contacts will appear at the top with large icons, while your call log will be displayed below.
- Additionally, repeated calls from the same person, which were previously grouped into a single entry, will now be displayed separately and in chronological order. Recent calls, meanwhile, will appear in small boxes with rounded corners.
- Another visual change will affect contacts' profile photos, which will no longer be displayed in round frames and will have a more angled design , giving them a more striking appearance.
- The way you answer or reject calls will also be modified: a new horizontal gesture will be implemented, designed to prevent accidental acceptance or hanging up.
Android changes.
This new update, according to the Google Blog, lays the groundwork for the new Material 3 Expressive design, with features designed to make Android more accessible and easier to use. Below are some of the new features:
- Organized and always-updated notifications. Live app updates will keep users informed in real time, for example, when waiting for a food order or following the status of a trip.
- Clearer, simpler calls with hearing aids. Android 16 includes significant improvements for those who use hearing aids, such as improved call quality and the ability to control functions like volume directly from the phone.
- Stronger security with a single tap. More robust security tools are built in, designed to protect your device against online attacks, malicious apps, unsafe websites, fraudulent calls, and other threats.
- Greater productivity on tablets. Google worked with Samsung to develop the new "desktop window," a feature that allows for more efficient interaction with apps and content on large-screen devices.
