Banner and statue of St. Florian for volunteer firefighters [PHOTOS]

In both cases, these were significant and emotional events for the fire brigade community. In Miękisz Nowy, an extremely important ceremony in the history of the local OSP unit took place. It symbolizes not only the identity and tradition of a given OSP, but is also an important element during all celebrations and ceremonies. Possession of a banner strengthens the sense of community and unity among the members of the fire brigade brotherhood. It is a unique symbol that unites volunteer firefighters around common goals and mission, which is constant readiness to help others.

From now on, volunteer firefighters from Miękisz Nowy also have their own banner. The ceremony of its granting was preceded by a mass held in the church of Our Lady of the Snows, after which the unit's subunits marched to the square by the local school. During the official part, the firefighters made a ceremonial report, after which the national anthem resounded. The culmination of the ceremony was the granting of the banner with a symbolic driving of a nail, followed by the presentation of medals and decorations to deserving firefighters, the swearing in of members of the Youth Fire Brigade and the granting of a pennant. At the event, the district authorities were not represented by deputy mayor Krzysztof Cebulak, who congratulated the firefighters sincerely, expressing his appreciation for their commitment.

At the end of the event, the participants, including representatives of local government authorities, but also residents and supporters of the Volunteer Fire Department, were invited to a refreshment in the village community centre.

Firefighters from Wietlin also celebrated the fire brigade holiday on the first Sunday in May, where a statue of St. Florian was solemnly consecrated. The patron saint of firefighters took the place of honor at the fire station. Since his liturgical commemoration is celebrated...
