Bookmakers are betting on Mamdani. The socialist has an 82 percent chance of winning the election.

Zohran Mamdani currently has an 82 percent chance of winning the New York City mayoral election, according to betting platform Polymarket. Former governor Andrew Cuomo's chances, according to the same indicators, are 10 percent, and incumbent mayor Eric Adams's are 6 percent. All recent polls also point to Mamdani winning.
In an August Siena University poll, Zohran Mamdani received 44% support, equal to the results of Cuomo (25%), Sliwa (12%), and Adams (7%) combined! A Zenith Research and Public Progress Solutions poll from the second half of July gave Mamdani a whopping 50% support—ahead of Cuomo (22%), Sliwa (13%), Adams (7%), and Walden (1%).
Mamdani, who defeated Cuomo in the Democratic primary in June, leads in most demographic groups. Zenith reported Mamdani ahead of Cuomo 52 percent to 40 percent in a head-to-head matchup and 59 percent to 32 percent against Adams. In both surveys, voters over 55 were the least likely to vote for Mamdani.
Currently, the betting platform Polymarket rates Mamdani's chances of victory in the November election at 82 percent, giving his rivals almost no chance. Cuomo's chances are a mere 10 percent, Adams's at 6 percent, and Sliwa and Walden each have a 1 percent chance of victory.
Recall that Polymarket "predicted" a Donald Trump victory in the 2024 presidential election, despite traditional polls indicating a draw or defeat for the Republican. It's important to note that the platform is not a statistical tool, and the "odds" are calculated based on the amounts users "invest" in a given scenario. In this case, the majority are betting on Mamdani's victory.
