– The injuries the boy sustained were not accidental. They are probably the result of being shaken – prosecutor Zbigniew Piskozub, head of the District Prosecutor's Office in Krosno, which is conducting the investigation , told PAP.
The child's tragedy came to light when the probation officer had limited access to the little one and requested a medical opinion. The child was taken for tests. First to the hospital in Brzozów, and then to the hospital in Rzeszów. The tests revealed fractures of both radial bones, pericerebral hematomas and clear signs of malnutrition. Law enforcement was immediately notified.
The boy's parents, 28-year-old Ewa L. and 36-year-old Marcin L., have been charged with abusing their son, resulting in him suffering bodily injuries classified as moderate impairment. It turns out that the woman is in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
At the request of the prosecutor's office, both were placed in custody for three months. Investigators are now waiting for the opinion of experts who will determine in detail the nature and mechanism of the injuries to the toddler.
"Further information will not be provided at this stage of the proceedings," Dr. Monika Kaszubowicz, Deputy District Prosecutor, emphasized in a statement.
