Jarosław Kaczyński at the border in Rosówek. PiS leader announced a referendum on migration

On Sunday, the chairman of the Law and Justice party, Jarosław Kaczyński, appeared at the Polish-German border crossing in Rosówek. His speech was an expression of support for people protesting against – as he put it – the “unprecedented passivity of Donald Tusk’s government towards German provocations on the border.” The meeting took place in an atmosphere of tension, and Kaczyński himself repeatedly referred to the geopolitical situation, the issue of Poland’s sovereignty, and the threats resulting from uncontrolled migration.
- We are here, at the border crossing near Szczecin, but we will also talk about the very aggressive policy of the German government. And actually about the lack of reaction from the Polish government. He kind of asked for silence... Unfortunately, there are various provocations here. We are sorry that even in this situation, when we should all be in the coalition for the security of Polish borders, there are - as you can see - people who are trying to disrupt this meeting and this conference - said the PiS chairman.
In an emotional speech, Kaczyński thanked the participants of the Border Defense Movement and other social initiatives which – as he said – "oppose Donald Tusk's policy, the essence of which is unconditional subordination to the Germans."
– I came here first and foremost to say thank you. To thank all the participants of the Border Defense Movement and the entire broader social movement that opposes Donald Tusk's policies. You know, his political credit is subordination – unconditional subordination to the Germans.
As an example, Kaczyński pointed to the alleged pushing of illegal migrants from German territory to the Polish side:
- It is unheard of that one country, formally in the same military alliance, in one organization such as the European Union, would push thousands of illegal immigrants to another - people who could threaten the security of Poles. And in many cases they are already disrupting this security.
Referring to the government's actions, the PiS chairman accused Donald Tusk of lying and inaction:
– The government we have today is lying. (...) Some additional checks are supposed to start tomorrow, but we don't know if these will be real checks or a cover to continue to illegally transfer these people.
Kaczyński also announced the preparation of a draft law that would allow Poland to act more decisively in this matter:
- We are proposing a new solution here - a law. For now, it is a project, but something very easy to pass. I have no doubt that President Andrzej Duda will sign it, and if it drags on - President Nawrocki as well. This is to be the flag of the Polish state in practice - a regulation that will establish a list of countries whose citizens we do not accept.
The PiS chairman also expressed deep concern about the "progressive loss of Poland's sovereignty":
– This is not just a question of immigrants. It is a question of Poland's sovereignty and independence. Because Tusk's policy is not the policy of an independent state – it is the policy of a subordinate state. And not even of a junior partner, but of someone completely subordinate.
At the end of his speech, he announced further civic actions:
– I remind you – we have already collected over half a million signatures for a referendum motion. And we will continue to do so. It is going well, it is going better than we expected. There will come a time – I do not know what day it will be yet, but it will not be far away – when we will submit this motion. Because it is simply necessary. A referendum on migration and sovereignty.
