Lavrov: The war will end when we are satisfied with the results of the negotiations

Russia is ready to hold negotiations, but the hostilities will end only when the results of the talks are satisfactory for us, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in Ankara on Monday.
The Russian minister said the positions of "many countries" regarding the war in Ukraine had become more "realistic".
Moscow is ready to hold talks "with Ukraine, with Europe, (...) but we will end combat operations only when the results of the negotiations produce hard, lasting results that satisfy Russia," Lavrov said at a press conference. He added that Russia would not agree to halt fighting on the demarcation line and only then "think about what to do."
The minister said he had informed the Turkish side about the talks between the Russian and US delegations that took place in Riyadh on 18 February. He said that Russian-American consultations on diplomatic personnel would be held this week.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed that Ankara supports the participation of both sides in the peace negotiations. He reiterated that Türkiye could host such talks.
The ministers also discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Syria and the Gaza Strip. On Monday, Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaybani is scheduled to visit Turkey.
