Modern optimist class boat trainer in Przemyśl [PHOTOS]

Modern optimist class boat trainer in Przemyśl [PHOTOS]

This technologically advanced equipment allows trainers to conduct classes even out of the water, in an extremely realistic, safe and – most importantly – very effective way.

– Thanks to the trainer, children from the sailing section have the opportunity to learn the key elements of sailing a yacht – from the correct setting of the sail to the wind direction, through the techniques of ballasting the boat, changing tacks, to reacting to situations that they may encounter on the water. The equipment makes the classes not only effective, but also attractive for young participants and allows for conducting training also in the winter.

– explained Captain Jacek Podwyszyński from the association.

The purchase of this unique device was possible thanks to the support of the Marshal’s Office in Rzeszów, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Przemyśl municipal government.

– Huge thanks are also due to Ms. Katarzyna Domańska – Vice President for Training at the Polish Sailing Association, who helped significantly at the purchase stage

– added the president of “Róża Wiatrów”, captain Agnieszka Kowaliw.

One of four in Poland

The trainer was purchased in the Netherlands and is one of only four such devices in the entire country. What's more, it is the only one located in the Podkarpackie province. This makes Przemyśl an important point on the sailing map of Poland, offering young people access to unique training tools that until recently were only available in the largest sailing centers.

– Thanks to this investment, the future of Przemyśl sailing looks exceptionally promising. Coaches have gained new year-round training opportunities, and children – a chance to develop their passion and skills in a modern, safe and extremely engaging way.

– assured Captain J. Podwyszyński.

The trainer is also used to promote sailing among children during mass events, where the youngest have the opportunity to sit at the helm of the optimist boat and feel the "wind in their hair" while holding the helm, which reflects the real movements of the boat on the water. The device has already been presented, among others, during the Children's Day under Sails at the Water Marina in Przemyśl, Augustiady at the Salezjańskie housing estate, and the "Inspired by Bieszczadem" event in Przemyśl, where it enjoyed great interest among children and parents. This is evidenced by the words heard from a child: "Mom, there is a longer queue here than for a tank".

Let us just recall: the "Róża Wiatrów" association in Przemyśl has been popularizing inland and sea sailing for 11 years, especially among children and youth.
