The 9th Fortress Days have started in Świnoujście

Tanks FT-17, TKS, T-34, T-55, T-72 and... Leopard 2A4 - in static and dynamic shows. The historical group "Garnizon Gdańsk" and unique, realistic scenography, which includes the buildings of the Westswine settlement from the early 18th century. History enthusiasts from Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Belarus. Pyrotechnic shows, a popular science seminar, a concert of the only mobile carillon in Poland and... a city parade. Open days of the Świnoujście forts and a special, night tour of the Underground City. And for the finale - a concert of the Perfect band.

After a break of several years, thanks to the support of the Świnoujście local government, the Fortress Days are back as a big birthday event for the city. 260 years ago, the resort on 44 islands received city rights.

The event begins on Friday with a popular science session at the Museum of Sea Fishing in Świnoujście. Experts in the history of the city will talk about the beginnings of the city on the Świna during a several-hour conference. The day will end with the opening of a unique exhibition – the office of the city's mayor from the 19th century.

On Saturday, the celebrations will begin with the ceremonial raising of the Świnoujście flag at the Lighthouse. – It will get hotter with every hour – announces Agata Kucharska from the Świnoujście Tourist Organization, co-organizer of the event. – A mobile carillon with trumpeters, a historical extraordinary session, a grand parade and historical shows! First, "Clash of Empires" - a reconstruction from the 18th century, and then "Tank through history" - a show of contemporary and historical armored vehicles – adds Kucharska.

The grand finale of Saturday will be a concert by the band Perfect+, organized by the Municipal Cultural Center.

On Sunday, as part of Fortress Day, the Angel and Western Forts will open their gates. Although Fortress Days officially end on Sunday, Świnoujście will celebrate the anniversary throughout the following week – until the Sea Days.
