They conquered peaks for Piotr

They conquered peaks for Piotr

Piotr Cierpisz-Pustelny is a teenager who suffers from quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He also has neurological conditions, musculoskeletal impairment, and intellectual disabilities. From the very beginning, his life has been a series of challenges and a constant struggle for a better life. He was born prematurely and severely oxygen-deprived. In just the first four months of his life, he underwent seven surgeries, and at the age of four, a hip subluxation procedure. He can walk short distances with the help of another person, guided by his armpits. Every day is a constant struggle for his health and greater mobility. He requires regular and continuous rehabilitation, which is unfortunately expensive. His plight so moved a group of community activists from Przeworsk that they decided to do something to help him a little. This was the purpose of the "Połonina dla Piotruś" initiative, organized by members of the Patriotic Association "Miłość & Honor Lokalny Patriotyzm" (Local Patriotism Love & Honor Association), with the support of the Przeworsk Fitness Gym and personal trainer Krystian Domka. Under his supervision, a group of 40 mountain lovers went to the Bieszczady Mountains.

– By organizing a charity walk, we wanted to combine physical activity, tourism, and raising money for Piotr's further treatment and rehabilitation – says the leader of the campaign, Michał Horbaczek.

After conquering Połonina Wetlińska together, right next to Chatka Puchatka, the participants displayed the "Proud Przeworsk People" flag on the summit, which certainly attracted the attention of other tourists.

"Part of our group decided to continue their journey, conquering 12 kilometers of mountain peaks and admiring the autumnal beauty of the Bieszczady Mountains, while also conquering Połonina Caryńska. At the end, everyone enjoyed a bonfire with sausages, and a total of 3,670 złoty was collected in a collection box, which was donated to Piotr's family," reports Michał Horbaczek.

The hero of the campaign made it to the finale accompanied by his family. "We sincerely thank the sponsors of the trip for providing prizes in the drawing, and all participants for joining us on this journey," the organizers concluded. They have already invited everyone to another similar initiative, planned for next spring.

Sponsors of the expedition:

The Bus Mariusz company, Marzena Kluz, the Sztuka Chleba Jarosław company, MAAW SPORT Przeworsk, Mr Śmieszek – animations with passion.
