WalletHub Ranks 'Sinful States', New York City Takes Top Place in 7 Categories

WalletHub has developed an unusual ranking, which measures which states are the least and most "sinful". New York City ranked 11th overall in this list. WalletHub based its study on... 7 deadly sins, so the categories include: pride (vanity), greed, impurity (lust), envy, excess, anger, and laziness.
New York came in at the top of the second ten “most sinful” states in the US, ranking 11th in WalletHub’s ranking. The overall result was based on scores in individual categories.
New York's biggest sin turned out to be vanity - in this category, the state took the inglorious, 1st place. According to WalletHub analysts, the Capital of the World cares most about its image. New Yorkers are also angry, but not angry enough to make the top ten. In the "anger" category, the state came in 11th place.
Next were: lust (impurity), (12th place), envy (19th place), laziness (16th place), greed (44th place) and lack of moderation (46th place).
The unusual ranking was based on a variety of data, including crime statistics and the level of acceptance for behaviors considered immoral, such as gambling.
The “most sinful” state in the US turned out to be Nevada, with its capital in one of the world’s “sin cities” – Las Vegas. The state’s result was influenced by its liberal approach to gambling, the number of arrests and many other variables.
