Modern Emergency Department and helicopter landing pad at the pediatric hospital in Sosnowiec

The John Paul II Child and Family Health Center in Sosnowiec officially opened a new Hospital Emergency Department (ER) and a helicopter landing pad for rescue helicopters. This is a groundbreaking investment in medical infrastructure that will significantly improve the availability and quality of pediatric care in the region. The total cost of the project exceeded PLN 30.6 million, of which PLN 27.6 million was provided by the Silesian Voivodeship.
The 650 m² emergency department is equipped with the latest medical equipment , which allows for quick diagnosis and treatment of the youngest patients in life-threatening conditions. It includes:
medical triage zone ,
resuscitation and treatment room ,
intensive care zone ,
observation and consultation rooms ,
administrative support.
“The equipment alone is worth over PLN 4 million ,” said the president of the facility, Andrzej Siwiec , during the opening.
The new department has, among other things, a special resuscitation station, an operating room, as well as equipment for anesthesia, ultrasound and cardiology diagnostics.
A fully integrated landing pad for rescue helicopters was created on the roof of the building, which serves, among others, Eurocopter EC-135 machines belonging to the Polish Medical Air Rescue .
Thanks to specially adapted elevators, the patient can be quickly transported from the helicopter directly to the Emergency Department . An additional advantage of the helipad is the automated fire protection system , which releases fire extinguishing foam from built-in nozzles in the event of a threat.
“This is the most modern landing site in Poland,” emphasized President Andrzej Siwiec.
The new Emergency Department and heliport are available to patients from all over the country , regardless of their place of residence.
"We do not have any regionalization. A helicopter can bring a patient from any place in Poland," noted President Siwiec.
