Body of a man aged around 60 found on Peniche beach

The body of a man aged around 60 was found today on Pedras Muitas beach, in the municipality of Peniche, Leiria district, with the cause of death unknown, the National Maritime Authority reported.

In a statement, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) states that the alert for this occurrence took place at 10:30, through a member of the public who was nearby and reported the existence of a body on the beach.

Elements of the Peniche Local Command, INEM (National Institute of Medical Emergency), the Peniche Volunteer Firefighters and a team of lifeguards were sent to the site.

“Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that the members of the INEM Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) had promptly assisted the victim, with resuscitation maneuvers, without it being possible to reverse the situation, with the INEM doctor declaring death at the scene”, indicates the note.

After contacting the Public Prosecutor's Office, the body was transported by firefighters to the Torres Vedras Forensic Office, and the Maritime Police psychology office was also activated.
