Coimbra: Neuropsychology research now has its own building

This is the research area of ​​the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (FPCEUC) that stands to gain the most from the inauguration of a completely refurbished building at the University of Coimbra.

The moment was marked yesterday, revealing several rooms, laboratories and an auditorium, structures that were created in an area of ​​two thousand square meters, after a major intervention that cost 2.5 million euros and whose project dates back to 2019.

It is a 98-year-old five-storey building, built on the slope of São Jerónimo, in Alta de Coimbra.

Up until today, over the decades, a laundry and the workshops of the old university hospital operated there, before being used, from the 1990s onwards, for teaching and research activities at the UC, in addition to a university canteen/restaurant on the lower floors.

Designated as Building II of FPCEUC, it now houses the Research Center for Neuropsychology and Cognitive-Behavioral Intervention (CINEICC).
