Fire could hit the municipality of Tábua today

"The fire is expected to reach our municipality by late afternoon," said Ricardo Cruz, the mayor of Tábua, in a video posted on social media today. "These are just predictions, but we should all be prepared for any eventuality," he added.
The parish council presidents representing the localities of Pinheiro de Côja, Mêda de Mouros, Covas and Vila Nova de Oliveirinha, São João da Boavista, Candosa and Mouronho have already been informed to be alert.
The mayor said he asked parish council presidents to talk to people so that self-protection measures can be created.
If it is necessary to evacuate a village or remove people from their homes, the municipality has already prepared the Multipurpose Pavilion to accommodate these people.
The municipality has appealed that, when the fire reaches the municipality of Tábua, the population should remain confined to their homes with windows and doors closed. People living in isolation should leave their homes and go to local associations to organize their most valuable possessions that are outside. All residents who have useful "kits" such as cisterns or vehicles should gather in the village centers.
