National Maritime Authority assists two sailboat crew members on the Guadiana

National Maritime Authority assists two sailboat crew members on the Guadiana

Following an alert received at 9:39 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), reporting the existence of a pleasure vessel in difficulty on the river, elements of the Harbor Master's Office and Local Command of the Maritime Police and crew members of the Vila Real de Santo António Lifeguard Station ( VRSA ) immediately went to the location.

Upon arrival at the site, it was found that the two crew members, of Spanish nationality, were physically well, without needing medical assistance, and that the sailboat was without propulsion due to a breakdown, and was then escorted to a safe anchorage position, for safety reasons for the crew and navigation.

The owner was notified that he will only be able to sail after undergoing an inspection, in order to ensure the normal steering conditions of the injured vessel.

The VRSA Maritime Police Local Command took charge of the incident.
