Tourism: Água Hotels strengthens its operational leadership in the South and North of the country

Aníbal Costa takes over as director of the South Zone and Andrea Careddu as director of the North Zone, in a clear commitment to strengthening local operational leadership, aligned with the brand's growth and consolidation strategy throughout the country.
Aníbal Costa has over 25 years of experience in the Portuguese hotel industry, much of it spent in the Algarve.
With a degree in Hotel Management from the Algarve School of Hotel Management and Tourism — where he also completed trainer training — he has gained progressive experience in operations and management at groups such as Luna Hotels & Resorts (where he became Operations Director) and Vila Galé, where he led units in Albufeira and Lagos, and more recently served as Regional Operations Director with multi-regional responsibility (including Vilamoura, Tavira, Funchal, São Miguel and Ayamonte).
Recognized for his team management, operational control, and focus on customer satisfaction, he now oversees all Água Hotels units in the South, with a special focus on the Algarve, ensuring standards, efficiency, and support for the expansion plan.
Andrea Careddu joins the group as Regional Director of Operations for the North region. A professional with extensive international experience in mid-to-high-end and luxury hotels, he has developed a career in Management and Operations roles in several markets, including Italy, Africa (Angola), and the Middle East.
Accustomed to leading multicultural teams, integrating processes, and raising service levels, he now assumes responsibility for the group's units in Northern Portugal—including Mondim de Basto, Terra Fria (under development), and future openings—contributing to the standardization of operational processes and strengthening Água Hotels' service identity in emerging destinations.
These appointments are part of the Água Hotels group's strategic plan, which focuses on enhancing human capital and the continued professionalization of its operations.
According to Bruno Canhoto, the group's Commercial Director, "the arrival of Aníbal and Andrea represents an important step in our consolidation because they are proven professionals with complementary profiles, who will strengthen our operational response capacity and ensure the quality and consistency of the Água Hotels experience in all locations."
The Água Hotels group operates in key destinations such as the Algarve, Trás-os-Montes, and Cape Verde, with over 500 rooms in operation and new investments underway. These additions reinforce the brand's commitment to excellence, sustainability, and local hospitality, pillars that define the group's operations in the domestic and international markets.
