Sérgio Costa guarantees candidacy for the Guarda Chamber with the PG – Pela Guarda coalition

Sérgio Costa announced this morning, August 1st, the formation of a large coalition called PG – Pela Guarda , which includes the Movimento Pela Guarda, Nós Cidadãos and PPM, which will run in the local elections on October 12th.
He began by publicly thanking the country's three main political parties—PSD, PS, and Chega—for inviting him to form a coalition for Guarda. He added that this recognition demonstrates that the work carried out by the Movement over four years was considered valid and relevant, deserving the support of these most representative political forces in the Assembly of the Republic.
"This shows that our candidacy, our work over the last four years, was absolutely valid and therefore recognized," said Sérgio Costa.
However, he reinforced that, during the negotiations, he always maintained insurmountable principles, namely his independence and decision-making autonomy.
"There are red lines that should never be questioned," he stated, making it clear that his candidacy was and will continue to be guided by "values of transparency, integrity, and respect for the will of the people." Thus, he reinforced his intention to be re-elected with an even stronger vote on October 12, 2025.
Regarding the signature collection process, Sérgio Costa revealed that they have already surpassed 2,500 signatures, promising to continue this process over the coming weeks. He explained: "We already have about double the required signatures than required by law."
Sérgio Costa also highlighted that, over the years, independent movements have faced difficulties in accessing bureaucratic and financial processes, which should not be the case with his candidacy. He explained: "There are several movements in the country that are following the same path. Four years later, nothing has been done to make life easier for independent movements, neither in the bureaucratic nor in the financial process."
He reported that "in recent weeks there have been countless complaints against the Guarda City Council and the Movimento Pela Guarda." He added: "Today we received the archiving of these complaints from the National Elections Commission."
He reinforced that his team is prepared to "guarantee a clean, fair, and democratic electoral process," regardless of attempts at manipulation or delays by higher authorities.
Sérgio Costa announced the formation of a grand coalition called PG – Pela Guarda, which includes the Movimento Pela Guarda, Nós Cidadãos, and PPM. This coalition was duly registered with the Constitutional Court and represents a joint effort to "give a voice to the citizens of Guarda, without impositions or patronage."
Sérgio Costa also invited all parties, activists, and supporters to join this movement, reinforcing the commitment to working for the common good and the future of the city.
