Government pays 621 thousand euros to fishermen

The Government, through the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM), has already paid €621,211 to all 670 approved applications for the Fisheries Professionals' Salary Compensation Fund. "With this budgetary reinforcement, we were able to guarantee full payment for all pending applications from approved fisheries professionals and ensure they can continue to perform their activities with the necessary financial stability," the ministry explains. By May 2025, 362 applications had been paid, totaling €357,666.

"The beneficiaries of this support are fishing professionals who have seen their activity suspended in whole or in part due to exceptional and non-repetitive reasons, such as bad weather conditions, which prevented them from going out to sea," the Government revealed.

It should be noted that the Fishing Professionals' Salary Compensation Fund is an essential mechanism for safeguarding the income of these professionals in times of forced activity shutdown.
